Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Photography Tour?
Photography Tours are special events designed for photographers of all levels. Whether you’re using a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or just your phone, your creativity is welcome—and yes, tripods are allowed!

Will there be time and space to take photos?
Absolutely. Your guides will lead you through one vacant, historic section at a time, allowing plenty of time and room to spread out and capture the space.

Are the tours physically demanding?
Many of the buildings require significant walking and standing, often including several flights of stairs. These tours may not be suitable for individuals with mobility concerns.

What are the rules during the tour?
Your docent will begin the tour with a briefing in the gallery, outlining rules that must be followed at all times. Failure to follow staff or volunteer instructions will result in immediate dismissal without a refund.

What should I wear?
Closed-toed shoes are mandatory. No sandals or high heels. Many floors are uneven and may have debris. Some areas may also be grassy, muddy, or unpaved. Dress for the weather and wear something comfortable and safe.

Are hard hats required?
Check your specific tour details. For some interior tours, hard hats may be provided and required.

Can I explore on my own?
No. Visitors must stay with their tour group and remain in designated areas. Other sections of the buildings are not safe and are strictly off-limits.

Should I bring anything?
Yes—we recommend bringing bottled water and a flashlight. The buildings are not climate-controlled, and interior spaces can be hot and dim, especially in summer months.
